Road Trip Idea: Norfolk
| | Comments (0)

There's nothing like a three day weekend to kick off the start of baseball season. If you missed spring training and can't wait to smell the fresh cut grass, or even if you went to Florida but have been counting down the days till baseball returns, this week offers a unique opportunity for a wonderful road trip.

On Friday, the Nationals meet the Orioles in an Exhibition Game in Norfolk, VA, just three hours south of Washington D.C. Harbor Park is the home of the Orioles AAA Norfolk Tides team; it's a beautiful minor league park that sits on the Elizabeth River.

harborpark.jpgThe game begins at 3:30 p.m., so you'll have to take the full day off work to get there in time, but it should be a beautiful drive. Tickets are $27.50 for box seats and $25.00 for reserved seats, and there is a purchase limit of four tickets per person. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.

While you're there, enjoy all of Norfolk's attractions including many wonderful seafood restaurants. If you want to soak in the sun, Virginia Beach is only 20 miles away. To explore colonial history, definitely make a stop in Williamsburg. Journey off the path a little bit to see gigantic sculptures of the U.S. presidents at President's Park just outside of Williamsburg. If history isn't your thing, don't forget to make some time for Busch Gardens.

Whatever you do, hurry back to D.C. because the Nationals host the Orioles at Nationals Park on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. Tickets to the Exhibition Game benefit the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation and can be purchased on nationals.com.
