I'm sitting here wondering who the Orioles' first noteworthy acquisition will be this offseason. Newbie executive vice president Dan Duqette should be up to speed and ready to make something happen at the Winter Meetings set for the first week in December. I'd love to see his priority list, because right now I'm not sure what mission numero uno is for the Birds as far

Major League Baseball announced a preliminary agreement with the players' union Tuesday on a new collective bargaining agreement. You don't have to tell me. I already know how boring the legalese found within a baseball labor agreements can be to the average fan. Most of you just want to see balls fly out of the park, web gems and collisions at the plate. Whether or

Big rumor after big rumor poured out of Milwaukee last week during baseball's general managers meetings. While teams like the Marlins were wooing every free agent on the planet, the Orioles were looking for a backup catcher. Obviously, that's the reason they lost 93 games last year. It's hard to judge a man by one press conference, but my first impression of new Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette was mixed. Of all the quotes we read and interviews with Duquette that were broadcast on Tuesday, the person who had the most impact on my perception of Duquette at day's end was Buck Showalter. I trust Showalter's judgment a

I'm taking off my journalist hat for a moment and am going to share some emotions. The O's GM search has me a bit out of sorts. As a kid who grew up loving the Orioles in the 1980s, I've been a little depressed this week, maybe even angry. The Orioles' inability to convince a general manager to come to Baltimore has surprised me. Trust

In the aftermath of Matt Wieters and Nick Markakis winning their first Rawlings Gold Glove Awards, I've been taking inventory of the Orioles' defensive stock. It might be one of the few areas this offseason where the Orioles' new GM can say his warehouse is actually full. There's no question, solid pitching is the key to winning championships and right now, the Orioles could use
