As for Bruney, General Manager Mike Rizzo talked about Brian Bruney with Ray Knight and myself during Sunday's game. Rizzo said he just told Brian that he wants him to be what he was when he drafted him: the mid-90s fireballer with confidence.

"If they get a hit off your fastball, so be it," Rizzo told Bruney. Basically, if you are going to go down, go down with your best stuff. Dare the hitter to hit it.

Bruney seems to be taking that advice after using his fastball to get the Mets Jeff Francoeur to swing and miss twice and strike out with two men on in the bottom of the eighth Monday night at Citi Field. The Nats held their 3-1 lead and eventually won 3-2, for #18 on the season.
