In-game update for Michael Morse at Potomac with walk and strikeout

WOODBRIDGE, Va. -- Nationals left fielder Michael Morse, batting third, is the designated hitter for the Potomac Nationals in their contest against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

In the bottom of the first with two outs, against Pelicans’ right-hander Roman Mendez, Morse walked on a 3-2 count. He swung and missed with the count 2-0 and then fouled back the fourth pitch to the screen.

Morse was left on base when cleanup hitter David Freitas flied out to left to end the inning.

Morse said during batting practice he believes he will play here again tomorrow night and then does not know where he will go next. Double-A Harrisburg is only home through Thursday. Low Single-A Hagerstown is home starting May 31 for five games. Potomac stays home until Sunday.

In the third, Morse struck out on 2-2 pitch for the inning’s second out. He fouled off three pitches to the right side during the at-bat.

Update: The skies opened up and tonight’s game has been postponed. I’ll have quotes from Morse, who is expected to DH again tomorrow, in a little while.
