A question for you

Prior to the Ravens drafting Joe Flacco two years ago, it was clear that the team needed a franchise quarterback.

Before the Anquan Boldin trade two weeks ago, it was clear the Ravens needed a No. 1 wide receiver.

Check...and check.

What were probably the two most glaring long-term holes on this roster have been filled in the last two years. So, what now? What's left to be done?

Here are four areas that might still need improvement:

  • The Ravens could use help in the secondary, as injuries to Lardarius Webb, Fabian Washington and Haruki Nakamura have left the defensive backfield looking pretty thin. If you include Ed Reed's possible retirement, things get even messier, although the team expects their All-Pro safety to return this season.

  • Staying on that side of the ball, it's not a secret that the Ravens certainly could use another defensive end or two. Dwan Edwards' departure for Buffalo has left a big void, and with Trevor Pryce now 34, more help is needed on the edge of the defensive line.

  • Another area of need is tight end. Todd Heap will return for his 10th NFL season, but if more pieces aren't added, Heap's injury history and a lack of depth at the position might give offensive coordinator Cam Cameron nightmares. Edgar Jones and Davon Drew are the only other tight ends currently with the team, and they have a total of two NFL receptions between them.

  • Then there's the kicking situation. The Ravens tendered Billy Cundiff a contract as a restricted free agent, and he'll likely be in training camp this summer. Cundiff kicked fairly well during his nine-game stint with the team last season, but the front office will need to find another legitimate option to compete with the six-year veteran this summer.

The Ravens have their franchise quarterback and they finally have their big-play wideout. Breathe easy on those fronts. But there is still work to be done.

With that said, let me toss this question out to all of you: What do you think is currently the Ravens' biggest area of need?

Do you think the next goal should be improving one of the four positions that I listed above? Or do you have another facet of the team in mind that you feel needs to be worked on in the coming weeks and months?

If you're playing GM, what's on the top of your wish list?
