Last year, the Ravens went practically the entire season with Le'Ron McClain as the only fullback on the roster.
For a while this offseason, it appeared that he would have company in the form of Edgar Jones. Now, it looks like McClain will enter minicamps as the Ravens' lone fullback yet again.
Jones, who played tight end last year, will move back to the defensive side of the ball, according to the team. There initially was word that he would be switching roles and becoming primarily a fullback, but the Ravens have opted to go another route with the four-year veteran.
Jones told the Ravens' website that he will switch back to outside linebacker, which is the position he played when he made the team as an undrafted free agent in 2007. Jones will also continue to see time on special teams.
The Ravens have good depth at running back with Ray Rice, Willis McGahee, Jalen Parmele, Matt Lawrence and undrafted free agent Curtis Steele all on board.
But now that reserve fullback Charles Ali has been waived and Jones has made yet another positional change, the team is thin at fullback.
The Ravens used guard Chris Chester as a blocking tight end at times last year; he might be a candidate to see more reps in a lead blocking type of role this season if the coaches opt not to add another true fullback to the roster.
