A handful of updates

The Ravens trimmed their roster today, releasing outside linebacker Willie VanDeSteeg.

VanDeSteeg, who was signed as an undrafted free agent last year, spent the entire 2009 season on the Ravens' practice squad.

He was part of a crowded group at outside linebacker; Terrell Suggs, Jarred Johnson, Sergio Kindle, Antwan Barnes, Edgar Jones, Prescott Burgess and Albert McClellan all still remain.

I will miss VanDeSteeg, mainly because he had by far the coolest name on the team.

The Ravens are currently going through a stretch of practices in which they focus on a specific opponent.

They prepared for the Jets yesterday, spent today prepping for the Bengals, and will take the next two days' minicamps to focus on the Browns and Steelers. That schedule mirrors their first four games of the regular season.

Speaking of schedules, the Ravens have released their 2010 training camp schedule. It will be their 15th time holding training camp at McDaniel College.

Camp will open on Tuesday, July 27 and will break on Friday, August 20. Rookies, quarterbacks and select players will report to Westminster on July 26 and will have four practices (all of which are open to fans) over two days before all veterans arrive Wednesday, July 28.

The first full-squad practices open to the public are scheduled for Friday, July 30 at 8:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.

The team has scheduled 41 practices over their 26-day camp. The sessions will be open to the public and media except on the following days: July 29 (administrative day), Aug. 11 (pre-game walk-through) and Aug. 20 (pre-game walk-through/camp breaks).

Practice will also be closed to the general public during the morning session on Monday, Aug. 2, when the Ravens will hold their annual Suite Holders and Sponsors Day.
