Fabian Washington just strolled into the team hotel, and the veteran cornerback pronounced himself ready to go for training camp.
Washington is coming off a torn ACL which ended his 2009 season, but he says he feels good after spending the last handful of weeks training down in IMG Academies back in Florida.
"I was going as hard as I possibly could and the knee held up," Washington said. "You've got to push it and get some confidence in it, and I feel like it's ready to play."
Washington trained with fellow cornerbacks Domonique Rodgers-Cromartie and Mike Jenkins, and said that he went up against speedy rookie wide receiver/running back Dexter McCluster, which surely tested the mobility of his knee.
The four-year veteran hopes that he won't need to start camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, but he said that decision is up to the coaches.
"I want to run around with the guys from Day One," Washington said. "So we'll see what happens."
Meanwhile, running back Matt Lawrence says he's "pretty much" 100 percent after a knee injury ended his 2009 season early.
The special teams ace thinks he'll be ready to go when practices begin tomorrow.
"I feel good, I feel real good," Lawrence said. "New year, you know? Everything is new, everything is fresh. I feel ready to go."
