The Ravens completed their first round of roster cuts this morning by sending linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo and running back Matt Lawrence to the Reserve Physically Unable to Perform list.
The moves take Ayanbadejo and Lawrence off the active roster, and get the Ravens down to the 75-man limit. The team released cornerback Doug Dutch and placed defensive back Marcus Paschal and center Daniel Sanders on Injured Reserve yesterday.
A player that is placed on Reserve PUP must sit out the first six games of the season.
Ayanbadejo is coming off surgery to repair a torn quadriceps tendon which he suffered last October. The Pro Bowl special teams player had hoped to be able to participate in training camp, but he hasn't recovered quickly as anticipated.
Lawrence had surgery on his knee last season, and like Ayanbadejo, was unable to recover in time to take part in training camp.
The Ravens' next round of cuts will be their last. They have until Saturday to get down to the final 53-man roster.
