Beck traded to Skins (updated)

The Ravens are in the process of trading quarterback John Beck to the Redskins, which will clear up their logjam at the position.

I'm hearing that Beck, who is currently fourth on the depth chart behind Joe Flacco, Marc Bulger and Troy Smith will be dealt shortly.

Compensation is not yet known.

Beck, a fourth-year pro out of BYU, signed with the Ravens last offseason. He was the Ravens' third-stringer all of last year, and when the Ravens signed Bulger this month, Beck became expendable.

The 28-year-old was a second-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2006.

UPDATED: The deal is now official. The Ravens will receive cornerback Doug Dutch in return for Beck.

Dutch is a local boy, having gone to Gonzaga High School. He played his college ball at Michigan and was signed by the Skins as an undrafted free agent.

He spent the 2009 season on Washington's practice squad and will give the Ravens more depth at cornerback with Domonique Foxworth out, Lardarius Webb recovering from a torn ACL, and Walt Harris and Chris Carr battling various bumps and bruises.
