It's too bad that the Ravens no longer need a No. 1 wide receiver.
Head coach John Harbaugh could have stepped in yesterday and filled that void.
During full-team drills yesterday afternoon, linebacker Antwan Barnes came off the edge and battled a Marc Bulger pass toward the cluster of players and coaches that were standing behind the play. The ball flew right to Harbaugh, who snatched it out of the air.
Harbaugh made the most of his first grab of training camp, giving a little stutter-step as Barnes closed in on him, and faking like he was going to take off down the sideline.
"Well, I gave Antwan a little stiff-arm; he did pull off a little bit, thank goodness," a smiling Harbaugh said after practice. "Yeah, I got pretty good hands."
Harbaugh, who played defensive back during his college years at Miami (OH), joked that he has some experience at wide receiver as well. Growing up, he served as a receiving target for his brother Jim, who played quarterback in the NFL.
"[I] caught balls from my brother all those years, I can catch," Harbaugh said. "You never know. The dream never dies, right?"
