Johnson: 2009 Suggs should have moved to guard

It was a plus-30 day today, which meant Ray Lewis, Todd Heap, Derrick Mason, Trevor Pryce and company all got the morning off.

29-year-old Jarret Johnson still had to be at practice, but the linebacker apparently didn't mind. He spent a couple minutes during full-team drills joking with reporters about Terrell Suggs' weight.

"Are you going to write an article about how good my boy looks?" Johnson asked, referring to Suggs, who was standing nearby. "Yes, he should have been moved to guard last year, but this year he looks good."

Suggs started laughing and playfully pushed Johnson away.

Suggs' conditioning has been well documented throughout training camp. He weighed 283 pounds last season and was noticeably bigger, but cut down on the cookies and fried chicken this offseason and got down to 263 pounds.

The extra weight might be gone, but the jokes from Suggs' teammates about his weight certainly aren't.

Never one to shy away from making a few sarcastic comments himself, Suggs got into the mix a little later in practice after Billy Cunidff missed a 45-yard field goal wide left.

"Billy, we will take you out back and end it," Suggs jokingly yelled towards the kicker.

Cundiff atoned for his miss, and kept Suggs quiet, by nailing a 51-yarder. That made Cundiff 3-for-4 on field goals for the day.

For what it's worth, Shayne Graham also went 3-of-4, with his miss coming from 45 yards as well.
