Stallworth breaks foot, out two months

Donte' Stallworth's NFL comeback is going to be put on hold for a while.

The veteran wide receiver broke his left foot in tonight's game against the Giants, and will be out for around two months, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

"That's really disappointing for him and for our football team, obviously," Harbaugh said. "We'll do what we do. We'll step up and the next guy will play well."

It won't be a season-ending injury for Stallworth, but the broken foot will likely keep the eight-year veteran out until around the Ravens' bye week, which comes at the end of October.

Harbaugh said that Stallworth will have surgery right away to get a screw put in his foot.

Stallworth had put together a solid training camp and preseason despite the fact that this was the wide receiver's first NFL action in over a year. He was suspended for the entire 2009 season after pleading guilty to vehicular manslaughter.

"It's a setback, it's a huge setback," wide receiver Derrick Mason said. "Not just for the offense, but more or less for him. The offense, we're going to continue to play. We're going to miss Donte', but we're going to continue to play. But I think for Donte', he's worked so hard to get himself back playing at a high level. And for this to happen to him, it's just unfortunate.

"So, the team, we're going to miss him, but we'll be alright. But when you think about the man, it's a big blow because of what he's been through. He's got some weeks to get over it and hopefully the foot will heal quickly, and he'll be back on the field for us."

Meanwhile, wide receiver Mark Clayton suffered a concussion tonight as well.

Harbaugh said that the concussion "shouldn't be a long-term thing", but this means that the Ravens' depth at wide receiver, which was considered very strong yesterday, will now be tested.
