The Ravens have taken things slow with cornerback Lardarius Webb as he works his way back from a torn ACL, and they will continue to take things slow even as the regular season approaches.
Head coach John Harbaugh said today that Webb is unlikely to play in the Ravens' preseason finale against the Rams on Thursday because the team doesn't want to risk a setback to their second-year corner.
Webb declined to offer any comment on how close he is to returning to action, and said he's put the decision squarely in the hands of Harbaugh and head athletic trainer Bill Tessendorf.
"I'll be ready whenever Harbs is ready for me," Webb said. "When Bill T. thinks I'm ready to be back on that field, I'm back out with a smile.
"It's just up to them, so I'm going to leave it up to them, me, and how my body feels. When it's ready, I will be back out, because I'm excited."
Webb did say that he feels like he's continuing to progress since coming off the Physically Unable to Perform list a week ago.
"It's coming along well, just like before," he said. "Just keep getting it stronger and stronger."
