Head coach John Harbaugh said today that he expects offensive tackle Oniel Cousins to suit up on Monday night against the Jets after missing much of the last three and a half weeks with concussion symptoms.
"I don't believe Oniel is touch-and-go," Harbaugh said. "I would expect him to play. I shouldn't speak for the doctors, but it looks to me like he's ready to play."
Cousins said that he's been able to do more hitting the last couple days, and has been feeling just fine.
"I feel good," he said. "Like I said, I'm ready for whatever. If I'm up, I'm up. But overall, I feel pretty good. I haven't had any symptoms for the past couple days, and I feel confident. I feel like I'm back to normal."
The question is if Cousins will be the Ravens' starting right tackle if he's active for Monday's game. The third-year man has missed a lot of time throughout OTAs, training camp and the preseason not only because of the concussion, but also because of a procedure which removed a cyst from his throat.
If the Ravens feel Cousins isn't yet ready for a full workload, they could opt to go with Tony Moll at right tackle, or slide Marshal Yanda from right guard to right tackle and insert Chris Chester at guard.
Meanwhile, while Cousins should be able to suit up on Monday, Lardarius Webb appears less likely to be one of the 45 players active.
Webb is still working his way back from ACL surgery, and the Ravens will likely take things slow with the second-year cornerback and ease him back into action over the next couple weeks.
Still, Harbaugh said he would not rule out the possibility of Webb being able to play against the Jets.
"I think he will be [a game-time decision]," Harbaugh said. "I would say this - he's practiced 100 percent all week. He's done everything. So we didn't rule it out, and we haven't said he was going to go. So that's kind of one we're leaving up in the air for you."
"I could play if it came down to it," Webb said. "I'm still leaving it up to coach Harbs and Bill [Tessendorf, head athletic trainer]. It's the smart thing to do. I am prepared and ready, it just comes down to coach and what he wants to do this week."
