Ravens fans likely won't see their team's top 2010 draft pick this season.
Head coach John Harbaugh told reporters today that rookie linebacker Sergio Kindle, who fractured his skull falling down two flights of stairs in late July, is unlikely to play this season.
"He's got some serious issues that he's dealing with," Harbaugh said. "The chances of him playing this year are slim. We're going to be very, very careful. The doctors are going to very careful. Sergio is going to be very careful with that type of an injury."
Kindle was recently in Baltimore undergoing a series of neurological tests.
While the former Texas star is optimistic about his chances of returning to the gridiron, Harbaugh said today that there's a chance that Kindle is unable to play football again.
"There's no way to predict these things," Harbaugh told reporters. "You don't know how the brain heals. It's different in everybody. We'll just see how it goes."
Harbaugh said that while Kindle is currently unsigned, the team intends to agree to terms on a contract with him at some point.
The deal will be one that will provide the team with some protection in the case Kindle doesn't play again. Harbaugh said the Ravens will "sign him to some form of a deal that reflects the situation and give[s] him an opportunity."
