The highlight of last night's preseason finale from a Ravens perspective was clearly Dannell Ellerbe's 57-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Unfortunately for Ellerbe, that play was the lowlight of the night as well.
Ellerbe drew the ire of his head coach for taunting the Rams just prior to reaching the goal line, and he got quite an earful from John Harbaugh as he got to the sideline.
If you didn't see Ellerbe's showboating or Harbaugh's subsequent lecture to the second-year linebacker, here's the video. (If that clip gets pulled, here's a link to the NFL.com video.)
Asked about the play today, Harbaugh said that while he didn't appreciate the way Ellerbe acted, the taunting won't affect the inside linebacker's standing on the 53-man roster or his stock with the coaching staff.
"That's a situation where I think it's a learning opportunity," Harbaugh said. "The bottom line is - we don't want any penalties. That's the most important thing. You never want to put your defense or your special teams in harm's way.
"The other thing is, we want to do things in a class way. Dannell is a class guy. He wants to do things that way. It's a learning opportunity for him, and he's fine."
