The Ravens aren't making any announcements on whether safety Ed Reed will return from the Physically Unable to Perform list and play this Sunday against the Bills.
No shock there.
But while head coach John Harbaugh didn't publicly declare Reed ready to suit up, he said today that Reed's surgically-repaired hip responded well to a week of practice and seemed to indicate that the six-time Pro Bowler could be cleared to get some game reps against Buffalo.
"He's had a really good week," Harbaugh said. "I don't want to speak for him, but it looks good.
"From a coaching standpoint, I'm probably going to be cautious, but I haven't talked to him since this practice."
Harbaugh said that the chances of safety Tom Zbikowski playing on Sunday are "slim at best" after Zbikowski missed this entire week of practices because of a heel injury.
The Ravens have said that Reed himself will make the decision on whether he will be able to play or not. Zbikowski's injury situation won't affect whether Reed plays against the Bills, Harbaugh said.
"No, because we've got Ken Hamlin and we've got Haruki Nakamura," Harbaugh said. "So, fortunately, we have enough depth that we feel good about our safety situation."
Harbaugh said that the Ravens will play it safe with Reed this weekend.
"We definitely don't want to have any setback," Harbaugh said. "That's the main thing. That's the key word, probably."
