You never really know how to react to a game like this.
Do you go with the whole "a win is a win" thinking?
Do you say that the Ravens should never have needed overtime to beat a winless Bills team?
While many fans will choose to think the latter, those in the Ravens' locker room say that while it certainly wasn't pretty today, they're happy to leave M&T Bank Stadium with their 37-34 win over Buffalo.
"In the NFL, anytime you can get a win, it's definitely a sense of joy," wide receiver Anquan Boldin said. "Those guys get paid as well. They came out and played great football. We'll definitely take this win."
The Bills, who came into today with the NFL's 30th-ranked offense and the league's worst defense, hung with one of the AFC's top teams for nearly 65 minutes today.
On the road, they jumped out on top of the Ravens 24-10, overcame a 10-point fourth quarter deficit, and forced overtime.
In the end, the Ravens pulled it off, but Buffalo surely made them work harder than many expected to earn the W.
"Listen, this is the NFL, and they are not a bad team," running back Ray Rice said. "Their record does not show how good they actually are. That team has a lot of talent. Much respect to them. We prepare every game for these kinds of situations that it came down to. Last week, we were on the short end of it, and this week, we made some big plays and got it done."
A lot of things weren't pretty about this afternoon's performance.
The 506 total yards and 34 points allowed. The horrific kickoff returns. The poor third down efficiency from the Ravens' offense.
We'll get into all that stuff over the next day or two, don't you worry.
But for tonight, the Ravens are going to smile. They're 5-2 heading into the bye week after facing a tough start to the schedule.
"I'm not going to stand up here and say that we played well," head coach John Harbaugh said. "We obviously had some things that we didn't do very well at all, but that's a good football team. We have to play better than that to be the team we want to be, but I'm proud of the win."
