This Thursday night game has completely thrown off my body clock.
Thursday felt like a Sunday because it was gameday, Friday felt like a Monday because of all the postgame wrap-up coverage and whatnot, and now today, we're right back in the middle of NFL action with a full slate of games throughout the day.
And for the second time in three weeks, I get to kick back and watch all the action without having my laptop, audio recorder and notepad nearby.
Score.
We've got a few interesting games on the docket today which will impact the Ravens' standing in the AFC pecking order.
Two games that I'll be keeping a close eye on are the Battle of the Ryans (the Jets at the Browns) and the Sunday night game which features the Patriots at the Steelers.
Ravens fans would be thrilled if Cleveland could continue their shocking hot streak today and topple another Super Bowl contender. The Browns have beaten the Saints and Patriots in back-to-back games, and a win over the Jets today would certainly help the Ravens down the stretch.
Meanwhile, tonight's contest between New England and Pittsburgh should be the most exciting game of the day. The Pats are looking to rebound from their embarrassing loss to Cleveland last week, while the Steelers hope to capitalize on Baltimore's Thursday night loss and move a full game up on the Ravens in the AFC North standings.
We've got two 6-2 teams squaring off and Ben Roethlisberger going against Tom Brady. The NBC execs must be absolutely giddy.
The Ravens will benefit from this game in one way or another, but obviously, a Steelers loss would result in some happy Baltimoreans tomorrow morning. Regardless, I have a feeling that those in the Charm City area will be watching that game closely.
Enjoy the games today, everybody. I'll check back with some Ravens-related updates throughout the day, so don't think that just because the purple and black aren't playing that they're completely forgotten.
