The Ravens have put a name to the infection that hospitalized starting right guard Chris Chester and caused him to miss today's game against the Panthers - cellulitis.
Cellulitis is a potentially serious infection caused by bacteria, and head coach John Harbaugh told reporters after today's game that it's a condition which could keep Chester out one to two weeks.
"The fever is going down. They went back in a second time and cleaned it out because his fever spiked, so he's probably going to be a week or two until the thing calms down," Harbaugh said. "We'll just have to see how he responds."
Harbaugh said he spoke to Chester last night and he believes that the fifth-year guard was released from the hospital today.
Meanwhile, Chester's replacement today, Tony Moll, seemed to play fairly well in his first start since September of 2008.
Moll has lined up at both tackle and guard in his career, and today, the former Green Bay Packer was back at the same right guard position that he played when he first broke into the league.
"Tony looked like he played well, from what I can tell," Harbaugh said.
Moll filling in for Chester marked the first change to the Ravens' starting offensive line this season.
