Yanda away for birth of his first child, Fabian sits

Starting right tackle Marshal Yanda wasn't at practice today, but there's no reason for concern.

In fact, stop by CVS on the way home and pick up a greeting card for him.

Yanda has been excused from the team to be with his wife as she gives birth to their first child.

The Ravens' right tackle is expected to play this Sunday against the Panthers, and hopefully will do so as the father of a healthy baby.

In addition to Yanda, CB Fabian Washington (illness) and S Tom Zbikowski (heel) also missed practice today.

Washington was limited yesterday, but did not participate at all in today's practice.

TE Todd Heap (chest) was limited for the second straight day, while LB Tavares Gooden, who was limited yesterday with a head injury, had a full practice today.

For Carolina, four starters missed practice today, although it's not entirely the same four that sat out yesterday.

QB Jimmy Clausen (concussion), RB Jonathan Stewart (concussion), LG Travelle Wharton (toe) and DE Charles Johnson (hip) were the four to sit out today. Johnson was limited yesterday but was downgraded to no practice today.

Starting LB Jon Beason, who missed Wednesday's practice with a knee injury, was limited today for the Panthers.
