He might be the most banged-up Raven in the locker room, but fullback Le'Ron McClain says he still hopes to play this Sunday against the Steelers.
Evidence that McClain's sprained left ankle is improving could be found when he took part in a game of cornhole with a teammate and was putting weight solely on his left leg.
That's what we've got to work off right now.
"Yeah, I'm good today," McClain said. "I'm feeling good. I'm getting ready for Sunday. It's day-to-day. I'm trying to get this thing right so I can get ready to play Sunday."
McClain said he missed his second straight day of practice today, but he took part in individual drills off to the side.
"I got the game plan down," McClain said. "You need that practice time to get that execution down for Sunday. I take very much pride in that. I'm doing my best to get out there tomorrow and get the job done."
While the two-time Pro Bowl fullback would love to play against the Ravens' arch rivals in what promises to be an incredibly physical game, he also knows that he can't rush back if he isn't close to full strength.
"This is a divisional game, Pittsburgh coming to town trying to knock us off," McClain said. "I want to play so bad out there with my guys [on] Sunday Night Football. You got to be smart about it. Whatever I do, I don't want to go out there and be 60 percent and hurt the team. If I can't be 100 percent, I'm going to be a letdown out there. I'm doing whatever I can to get back for Sunday."
Still, when asked if people should bet on him playing Sunday night, McClain replied: "Please do, please do."
