Ravens waive OL Mattison, sign practice squad TE

The Ravens made a roster move this afternoon, waiving offensive lineman Bryan Mattison and signing tight end Davon Drew from their practice squad, according to the team.

Drew, the Ravens' fifth-round pick back in 2009, has spent the majority of his pro career on Baltimore's practice squad. The ECU product also spent some time on the Dolphins' developmental roster.

He's now the fourth tight end on the Ravens' roster, joining Todd Heap, and rookies Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta.

Drew's promotion could be an indication that Heap's injured hamstring, which has kept him out of the last two games, is not healing as quickly as the Ravens might have hoped.

Mattison was added to the active roster a month ago, and was active for two games since getting bumped up from the practice squad.

The son of Ravens defensive coordinator Greg Mattison saw action on special teams in wins over the Panthers and Buccaneers.
