The bye week might not have helped wide receiver Lee Evans and left guard Ben Grubbs as much as the Ravens had hoped it would.
Neither player took part in this afternoon's practice during the portion open to the media.
This is the second straight practice that Evans has missed as he continues to be plagued by a left ankle injury. Grubbs (toe) was limited the last two days, but did not participate today and clearly is not close to full strength at this point.
Also missing today's practice were cornerbacks Jimmy Smith (left ankle) and Chris Carr (hamstring) and safety Tom Zbikowski (concussion).
I noted yesterday that the Ravens will observe a moment of silence prior to Sunday's game against the Texans to honor Pat Breslin Modell, wide of former Ravens owner Art Modell. Pat passed away on Wednesday at the age of 80.
The team announced today it will also salute Pat by wearing a decal with the initials "PBM" on the back of their helmets when they play the Texans on Sunday.
"Spending time with Pat was always special," current Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said in a statement. "There was a spark about Pat that was visible. She lit up a room when she entered. Conversations and dinners with her were electric and exciting. She made you feel good by being with her. And, the love she and Art had for each other ... We've talked about it, and it was inspiring.
"Art and Pat bragged about each other, delighted in each other's company. Their love was so visible. We already miss her terribly, and our thoughts and prayers are with Art and his family."
