The Orioles haven't been playing defense up to par. This is alarming and unacceptable.
If this club is going to compete, they need to catch and throw the ball better. I just don't see an all-out effort every time.
There have been flashes from some guys. But, in the end, every player needs to step up and do his job.
I would like each player to say to themselves, "No ball will drop in my area! EVER!"
I understand that every play will not be made. But, every player can give 100% effort every play. That's their job.
If the pitchers feel that their defense is ready and willing to do everything and anything to make a play, when you stand on the mound knowing that your teammates are there for you and will do whatever it takes to make a play, it gives you the confidence to throw the ball over the plate.
There is a mindset you need to have in order to be successful. If you feel that you have to throw the perfect pitch every time, you will walk guys and get behind many other hitters.
As a fan, I want to see all-out effort on EVERY PLAY. I see this with the winning teams. I don't see it right now with this team.
