Now that Christmas has passed us here are some warm wishes for a Happy and Healthy Nats New Year in 2008...
Nationals ballpark - Have a great hitters’ background for the Nats batters (gotta love those inviting bleachers and souvenir alley for the fans) and at the same time for the Washington pitchers to feed off the energy of the cozy crowd and silence their opponents.
Shawn Hill - Good health and 30 to 35 starts for the Nats ace.
Nick Johnson - A 2008 return and the Comeback Player of the Year Award. Let’s have the Nats take home this award in consecutive seasons. Dimitri Young won it in ‘07 and this is Nick’s year.
Chad Cordero - Peace of mind and a hot start in April.
Wily Mo Pena - 40 homers and the knack to see and hit the curve ball as he cuts back on those strikeouts.
Elijah Dukes and Lastings Milledge - the ability to accept a second chance and get rid of that “bad guy” label. If these players simply scratch the surface of their ability they’ll add luster to the Nats lineup and showcase themselves as diamonds in the rough.
Austin Kearns - Pick up where he left off in the second half of 2007.
Ryan Zimmerman - A healthy hand and a 2008 All-Star appearance at Yankee Stadium.
Manny Acta - a fast start out of the gate and a record of .500 baseball or better!
