Final thoughts from the Big Apple...

Dunn Digging the DH...
Adam Dunn told me it’s been helpful having the opportunity to DH this week.

Nats skipper Manny Act said he’s been using the DH to give some of his regulars a rest.

I asked Adam how beneficial that’s been and he said it’s good because when you DH you get to watch the game from a different perspective. He added that you can concentrate on the one thing you have to do, and said it’s a good chance for everyone to give their bodies a break.

Cashing in from DC...
Yankees GM Brian Cashman played baseball at Georgetown Prep and Catholic University. He told me his DC coaches taught him a lot, telling him not to cheat himself and to focus on maximizing everything he does every day.

As for the Nats, Brian told me he thinks Mike Rizzo has done an excellent job and he enjoys dealing with him from a GM perspective. He also said the drafting of Stephen Strasburg will have a monumental affect on the franchise and fans need to be patient because the future is bright in Washington.

Faces in the Crowd...
There’s some NFL flavor here this week with the Giants taking in the game Wednesday night. New York QB Eli Manning was joined by his brother Peyton. The Colts QB sat with his brother in the $1500 seats behind home plate.

TV star George Lopez also cheered on the Bombers.

And of course there was some Washington flavor here with DC Mayor Adrian Fenty sitting in the front row on the third base side of the field with some family and friends.

Members of the Lerner family, including Ted and Mark, also had a chance to check out the new Yankee Stadium.
