Wednesday night's game against the Marlins not only features newcomer Scott Olsen facing his former Florida team for the first time, but it's also the first time MASN viewers will get to hear Rob Dibble in the Nationals broadcast.
The last time I saw Rob was back in January at the Annual Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation Dinner to help raise money for scouts who have fallen on hard times. The Nats were well represented at the event. Bob Boone, Mike Rizzo and Wade Taylor were among those in attendance. Rob emceed the event and did a great job. He added humor and kept the evening moving along.
I'm really looking forward to working with Rob tomorrow and during the baseball season.
I remember him best from his days with the Cincinnati Reds. I hope some of his Nasty Boys past will rub off on the Nats bullpen. Perhaps his history as one of the top relievers in the game will help some of the guys hanging out in Manny Acta's bullpen this season.
It may not be his job to help the Nats pitchers, but soaking up any information from a successful former pitcher can only be an asset. I know I look forward to picking his brain.
Hope you had a Happy St. Patrick's Day and see you Wednesday night from Viera!
