Joel Hanrahan has only been with the Washington Nationals for two seasons.
But in those two years, Joel has firmly entrenched himself into the community with his constant work with those less fortunate.
The American Red Cross, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, visits to area schools, support of the Military, and the list goes on and on.
For his work in our city, Joel is the Washington Nationals recipient of the 2008 Roberto Clemente Award.
Joel is one of 30 nominees in Major League Baseball to be recognized for his charitable work. The national winner of the Roberto Clemente Award will be decided by a vote of you, the fans, from now until October 3rd.
You can cast your vote for Joel by clicking here.
It is so refreshing to see the many Nationals players who go out in the community to give their time both on game days and off days.
Joel Hanrahan, congratulations on all you've done, and keep nailing down those saves coming out of the bullpen!
