Everybody relax....It's THREE games out of a 162-game season!
One of the great things about the internet is that anyone at anytime can make their feelings known on a variety of subjects.
In most cases you can write things that you would never say to someone in person. Sorta like what I've been hearing these past couple of days after the Nationals stumbled out of the gate dropping three straight to the Florida Marlins in my hometown.
You'd think the season was about to end, instead of begin.
No one likes to lose at any level of competition. I think back to last year when Ray Knight and I were playing golf and I dropped in about a 20 footer for birdie to beat him on the final hole.
I thought he was gonna wrap my putter around my head!
How do you think the Washington players are feeling after all the pre-season hype on this being a much improved ballclub in all areas? But they are all professionals and know that things will turn around.
Like everyone who reads this blog, we hope things get turned around quickly. I for one think it will.
Remember last season when the club won their first three, then dropped, what, nine straight? Lets hope those numbers are flip flopped and the Nats start rolling Friday night against the Braves in Atlanta.
I defer to a couple of guys who know the game better than you and I, my partner Ray Knight and Bob's partner Rob Dibble. They both say it's early; stay with these guys; there is too much talent for anyone to push the panic button.
Manny Acta said it best: it's a much improved ballclub with some added power from Dunn, and Willingham has to help, and the starting rotation will come around.
Hopefully this time next week everyone can be smiling again and feeling good about this 2009 season!
