Justin and Jesus

Youth certainly showed through in the Nationals win over the NY Mets Sunday.

The Nationals' 24-year-old Catcher Jesus Flores hit another home run and 25-year-old outfielder Justin Maxwell, who started in center, got on base three times and stole two bases.

Not to mention 22-year-old Jordan Zimmermann picked up his 2nd win of the season, tying him with fellow 22-year-old, Shairon Martis for the team lead. Washington's four victories are the result of terrific pitching from those young guns.

No one could have been happier than I was, when Justin was called up from Syracuse, although I wish it was under different circumstances - Roger Bernadina's injury resulted in Maxwell joining the big club - now if he can only stay healthy.

The kid can play, has a great personality and will become a fan favorite in no time. Justin is also the 22nd former University of Maryland product to make it to the big leagues, and I for one hope he stays around for a long time.

Maxwell showed what he could do against the Mets; now let's see if Manny pencils him in as his starting center fielder against the Phillies Monday night.
