A good week for O’s and Nats fans.
As fans flocked to the stadiums to welcome back the baseball season, both teams set records for stadium attendance.
Both teams also earned much-improved television ratings over the first week of the 2010 season.
Nielsen ratings for the Nationals opener April 3, were three times greater than in 2009, despite the fact it was a day game rather than in prime time. The Nationals’ 2009 opener against the Florida Marlins earned a 0.5 rating game, while Tuesday’s rating scored a 1.6 rating, meaning 33,000 households were tuned in.
The Orioles first game of 2010 at Tampa set a record for a MASN telecast, with a 6.9 rating in Baltimore and 105,000 fans tuned in. The telecast beat out network programming such as “Lost” and “The Biggest Loser” in the Baltimore market.
