The Orioles today announced that they have agreed to terms with first baseman Chris Davis, right-hander Tommy Hunter, left-hander Brian Matusz, right-hander Bud Norris and left-hander Troy Patton on one-year contracts, thus avoiding arbitration.
Davis, 27, led the majors with 53 home runs, 138 RBI and 370 total bases in 160 games for the Orioles in 2013. He made his first All-Star team in 2013 and was the overall leading vote-getter for the Midsummer Classic.
Hunter, 27, was 6-5 with a 2.81 ERA (86.1IP, 27ER) in a career-high 68 games for the Orioles in 2013.
Matusz, 26, was 2-1 with a 3.53 ERA (51.0IP, 20ER) in a career-high 65 games for the Orioles in 2013.
Norris, 28, was 10-12 with a 4.18 ERA (176.2IP, 82ER) in 32 games (30 starts) between Baltimore and Houston in 2013. He was 4-3 with a 4.80 ERA (50.2IP, 27ER) in 11 games (nine starts) for the Orioles after being acquired from the Astros on July 31.
Patton, 28, was 2-0 with a 3.70 ERA (56.0IP, 23ER) in a career-high 56 games for the Orioles in 2013.
