The results are in: Fans “liked” Social Media Weekend

Hats off to you, Nationals fans.

During’s inaugural Social Media Weekend, our goal was to text, tweet and post to you, the fans, and show you guys some love for rooting hard for your team and staying loyal to both the Nationals and MASN.

Judging by the results, you guys shared the love right back.

Through our always-expanding social media platforms -- Facebook, Twitter and our text messaging service -- we wanted to give a little something back by offering chances to win great prizes and unique game-day experiences. And with the numbers tallied and the heart-felt thank you responses still flowing in, it’s clear this promotion isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Over the course of the promotion, the MASNNationals Facebook page had more than 1,000 interactions, including nearly 600 comments on the contests and giveaways. Ninety-four people entered for the chance to receive and exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of Nationals Park, while more than 50 fans tweeted pictures from their seats at the ballpark, in hopes of being chosen for a coveted seat upgrade.

Most impressively, we saw nearly 500 fans take part in our ballpark scavenger hunt, which gave fans a chance to win prizes, as well as enjoy the sights and sounds of Nationals Park.

Before the weekend was over we had received dozens of positive comments, everything from fans enjoying their experiences to people simply thanking us for giving back to the fans who root hard all season.

To all of the fans, we’d like to take this opportunity to both thank you for the kind words and, above all, tuning in online, on your televisions, on the radio, or at the ballpark all season to cheer on the Nationals.

It’s clear social media has changed the way fans follow their favorite teams and, for us, changed the ways we at MASN can give back to our viewers. Be sure to look for more chances to win great prizes and be a part of Nationals baseball in 2012.
