You’ve seen him on TV. You’ve heard him on the radio. You’ve heard him on his podcast. Now, you can hear him on ours.
Paul and I are back with a new episode of the “MASN All Access” podcast and we are joined by a very special guest: the one, the only, MASN’s Dan Kolko.
Obviously, Dan has graced you with his presence on MASN’s broadcasts of Nationals games and the pre and postgame “Nats Xtra” shows. But did you know that Dan started at MASN laying the groundwork for what Paul and I do now? Everything you see from a multimedia and social media standpoint - whether it’s the videos posted on MASNsports.com and the corresponding YouTube channels to the “MASN All Access” shows you watch on a daily basis - is possible due in large part to Dan’s hard work when he first started at MASN many moons ago.
Dan gives us an all access look at his career and how he worked his way up from a multimedia intern to beat writer to the television, podcast and radio host he is now. We also discuss how he balances the line between a serious baseball reporter and the fun, goofy reporter you see on air.
I also ask Dan what it’s like to be a hometown kid covering the local team and his thoughts on whether it’s OK for members of the media to cheer and support the teams they cover. (A touchy subject, I know, for the old school fans out there.)
Finally, we do talk about some actual baseball news, though there has been little this week with all this rain. Dan provides what updates he has on Matt Wieters’ hamstring surgery and his thoughts on how Pedro Severino is handling the daily catching duties.
I’m sure you already are, but if not, be sure to give Dan a follow on Twitter (@masnKolko) and Instagram (@dankolko) for all his latest reports and shenanigans on the Nationals. You can also follow the “Between Innings with Dan Kolko” podcast on Twitter (@BIwithDK) and subscribe to it on SoundCloud and Apple Podcasts. Of course, you can watch him on every MASN Nationals broadcast before, during and after the game in multiple capacities. And if that is simply not enough DK for you, check him out on “Nats Insider” on 106.7 The Fan every Saturday at 8 a.m.
