Starting lineups: Nats vs. Marlins in Jupiter

JUPITER, Fla. - A very pleasant good morning to you from Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, spring home of the Marlins and Cardinals and playing host today to the Nationals for the first of seven road games this spring. It’s only a 15-minute drive from West Palm Beach, and because of that the Nats are trying something new this year: They’re staying back to take batting practice and fielding drills at home, then boarding the bus at 11:45 a.m. and heading straight to Jupiter for the game. A lot of teams that train in Arizona (where the complexes are all nearby) do this; it’s the first time the Nats have done it here in Florida, though.

roark-players-uniform.jpgTanner Roark makes his first start of the spring, his first appearance of any kind since the end of the 2017 regular season. To say the right-hander, after not being used once in the National League Division Series, has a bit of a chip on his shoulder this year is an understatement. He’ll hope to get his 2018 off on the right foot beginning today.

The lineup once again doesn’t include many prominent names, but we will get to see Victor Robles starting in center field and Miguel Montero making his Nationals debut behind the plate. They’ll be facing right-hander Jacob Turner, who pitched in 18 games (two starts) for the Nats last season and is now trying to make it with the Marlins as a non-roster invitee.
