They weren't drafted by the Orioles or acquired in a trade from another team. They weren't signed as free agents. They don't wear uniforms or play second base or bat leadoff or cleanup. They don't occupy a spot on the 25-man. In fact, they aren't men at all. But they are connected with the Orioles and they do often have an impact on the city

Each season, OriolesREACH hosts thousands of underprivileged youth as part of the Gameday Experience Program. Groups of kids who likely wouldn't get to take in a game at Camden Yards on their own are brought to the ballpark and treated to a game of O's baseball and some fun giveaways--and the best part is that these kids are able to come here and participate thanks

This Friday when the Birds come home to Baltimore to take on their local baseball counterparts, the Washington Nationals, their matchup won't be the only one taking place in Charm City. The Oriole Bird and the Nats' eagle mascot, Screech, will compete once again in the ESPN Zone's second annual Battle of the Birds. The birds first met in DC this year when the

What a game to have traveled to Philadelphia to see. Saturday night's win against the Phillies made for an exciting night, and it was nice to find that I didn't have to enjoy it alone. O's fans came out in respectable numbers to support the Birds at Citizens Bank Park this weekend, and the evidence was visible throughout the City of Brotherly Love during the

You'll likely either really like this post or you'll hate it. That will all depend on how you feel about Twitter. If you hate it, pretend this post doesn't exist, enjoy watching the Orioles on MASN HD against the Phillies, and have a great weekend. If you're a Twittermaniac--and I'm by no means declaring myself to be, but it's nice to keep in touch with

When he's sitting down, you don't really notice that Nolan Reimold is a towering 6'4'' and a not-so-lanky 205 pounds. His casual jeans and unassuming gray polo matched his easy demeanor as he worked his way through his first major community appearance at the ESPN Zone this afternoon the way he might work a 3-2 count--on his toes but with a confident eye. With the

Before long I'll be heading to the ESPN Zone in Baltimore's inner harbor to check out Nolan Reimold's Q&A session scheduled for noon and spanning an hour over lunchtime to 1:00 p.m. Reimold will take part in an interactive Q&A session with fans led by O's Radio Network broadcaster Joe Angel. Afterward, he'll sign autographs, pose for photos and talk with fans. If you've never

It's finally here. Adam Jones Bobblehead Night. You're excited. You're ready to get here early - or at least you were before the sky opened up into a downpour in downtown Baltimore. And a few of you have even said you know right where you'll put yours. But what goes into a bobblehead night at Camden Yards? - A good bit of time, consideration, photos,

The Orioles have announced a new ticket offer scheduled to start next month on July 12. Now no matter where you're from, O's fans will have the chance to say they reside at 2110 Eutaw Street, at least during Orioles games, by purchasing tickets in the Eutaw Street bleacher section, which will be dedicated to a pair of young O's who hold a lot of

Bobblehead nights at Oriole Park usually tend to do two things: 1. Get lots of fans to come out to the Yard to support the Birds 2. Cause more than half of those fans to utter the phrase: "How come bobbleheads never really look like the person they're supposed to be?" It's true, few bobbleheads bear an exact likeness to their namesake, and we do

Each Thursday, MASN airs a new "Covering the Bases" segment with a different Oriole during that night's game. Throughout the game, fans get to peek inside the childhoods, early baseball days, and adolescent years of their favorite Birds courtesy of baby photos, stories from coaches and anecdotes from family members and friends. Tonight, MASN is Covering the Bases with still new Oriole catcher Matt Wieters.

Not long before Nolan Reimold hit his seventh homer with the Birds Tuesday night, we noticed the sky above Oriole Park's stadium walls was a brilliant orange. "A good sign?" one of our multimedia producers asked. "Must mean the O's are going to win." As our jokes about the "good omen" faded into the sounds of the crowd five stories below our windows, BAM, Reimold

It's no secret that the Orioles' plan for the future is to acquire young talent and develop them in the team's farm system. O's fans are seeing the fruits of that labor in players like... Nolan Reimold (2nd round in 2005) David Hernandez (16th round in 2005) Brad Bergesen (4th round in 2004) Nick Markakis (1st round in 2003) Chris Ray (3rd round in 2003)

The 2009 Orioles Yearbook is out already this season, and this year's is a good one. The gray "Baltimore" road jersey is pictured on the cover in front of the classic O's brick backdrop. Inside you'll find bios for the various members of the Orioles ownership and front office (Here's a fun fact you may or may not know: author Tom Clancy is actually the
