June 8 is the date, and judging by what I'm seeing on-line, the game against the Pirates is already a near sellout. Stephen Strasburg's coming out party will rank as one of the hottest tickets for a sporting event in recent D.C.history.

Barring postponements, Strasburg's opponents - after Pittsburgh - through the end of the month should be the Indians in Cleveland, the White Sox and Royals at Nats Park, and the Braves in Atlanta. He'll apparently miss pitching against the Orioles in Baltimore, unfortunate inasmuch as it would've presented another opportunity for the home fans to see him after a short drive.

Fox's initial opportunity to showcase Strasburg on their Saturday broadcast looks like the Nats' home game with the Mets on July 3.

The hype is enormous, as is the potential. The Nationals are obviously confident that Stephen is up to it. He'll be making his debut the day after this year's draft gets underway, and the Nats' first pick - whomever that might be - may be offered the opportunity to attend, unless his academic schedule is a conflict.

Right. I almost believe it myself.
