A phenom by any other name...

Only a hermit, or someone just emerging from a long-term coma, wouldn't be aware of Stephen Strasburg, right?

That's "Stephen" Strasburg. (Accept no substitute.).

Last night, incredibly, a veteran Baltimore sportscaster referred to the Nats' rookie righthander as "Scott" Strasburg when doing the late sports.

Scott. Strasburg.

That's like referring to the Ravens' #52 as "Ricky" Lewis.

C'mon, now.

I realize that most TV sportscasters in the Baltimore-Washington market are pretty football-centric, but this is ridiculous. We're not talking about Les Nessman here, but a genuine veteran.

With folks all over the country not sure whether it's "Stross-burg" or "Strass-burg" or "Strauss-burg," his first name has been pretty much unblemished.

There really is a first time for everything.
