I'm a little confused on the Nyjer Morgan suspension.
The release I got from the Nationals states that the entire original seven-game suspension relating to the ball-throwing incident in Philadelphia was rescinded, but the eight-game suspension relating to the brawl in Florida would stand.
Yet, some of the other reports I've read state that the suspension was for the Marlins' set-to AND his running into Cardinals' catcher Bryan Anderson at home on August 28.
The Cardinals' incident was, to me, the most bizarre, yet Nyjer wasn't ejected for it, and there was no previous suspension announced related to it. Did that unpleasantness figure into the eight-game total, or not?
Nyjer will miss the Phillies' series this weekend and half of the upcoming homestand. I wonder if, in light of the prior charge and ultimate acquittal, Nats' players will be tossing any souvenirs to Phillies' fans over the next 72 hours?
