The Baltimore Ravens have announced a scholarship program to help local high school seniors pay for college. The applications are now due March 5, so hurry and enter to have a chance at this amazing opportunity.
Funded by the Ravens All Community Team Foundation, the scholarship is designed to help students who are in financial need, have outstanding academic achievements and have also served in their communities. The scholarship itself is for $5,000 and is renewable, meaning each Ravens scholar may have the chance to receive a total of $20,000 over the four-year college experience.
Through the Ravens Scholarship Program, the team will award scholarships to five applicants each year. In the first year, applications will be accepted from students who attend public schools in Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Carroll County, areas where the Ravens operate training facilities and maintain offices.
Annually, the Ravens provide more than $500,000 in grant funding to local nonprofits, including close to $100,000 through the Plan in Motion program, which promotes physical fitness and nutrition education among youth.

Final selection of awardees will be made by a committee of staff from the Baltimore Ravens and CollegeBound Foundation. Grant announcements will be made in May 2010.
