Ravens deal Boldin to 49ers for sixth-round pick

The Ravens didn’t need to wait until Tuesday’s 4 p.m. deadline to resolve the Anquan Boldin situation. The team has traded its top wideout to its Super Bowl opponent, the San Francisco 49ers, for a sixth-round pick, according to The Sun.

The Ravens faced having to lose Boldin for nothing tomorrow because of their tight salary cap situation and his $6 million salary next season.

Boldin spent the last three seasons with Baltimore after being acquired from the Arizona Cardinals. With the Ravens, he appeared in 45 games, making 186 catches for 2,645 yards and 14 touchdowns from 2010-12.

He was a key part of the Ravens’ run to the Super Bowl this season. But the team needs some space to be able to re-sign linebacker Dannell Ellerbe and has wideout Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones under team control.
