Art Jones out for opener at Broncos

On their first injury report of the week, the Ravens have ruled defensive tackle Art Jones out for Thursday’s season opener at Denver.

Jones, who appeared in all 16 games last year and started six, will miss the contest with an illness that is considered as a non-football injury. With fellow reserve defensive tackle Brandon Williams not participating in practice Monday because of a toe injury, veteran lineman Marcus Spears is expected to start in Jones’ place.

Tight end Dennis Pitta (hip) is also listed as out, but on Tuesday, he is expected to be placed on injured reserve with a designation to return.

Wideout Deonte Thompson (foot) and center Ryan Jensen (foot) both sat out practice Monday.

The good news of the day is that No. 1 tight end Ed Dickson (hamstring) practiced fully, which bodes well for him playing against the Broncos.
