While rookie defensive tackle Arthur Jones is busy impressing Ravens coaches in training camp, his brother is off making a name for himself in the mixed martial arts world.
Jon “Bones” Jones, Arthur’s younger brother by just over a year, had the biggest win of his UFC career last night, defeating Vladimir “The Janitor” Matyushenko by TKO.
Yes, the guy’s nickname is really “The Janitor”. His friends must not like him too much.
The elder Jones was able to watch last night’s fight on TV from Westminster because it was on Versus 2.
“He dominated the guy from the beginning,” Arthur said. “It was over after like a minute and 50 seconds.
“I’m really proud of him. He’s doing well and I’m really happy for him.”
There’s quite a bit of athleticism in the Jones family; between Arthur, Jon and Chandler (a defensive lineman at Syracuse), they have all things sports pretty well covered.
So who would win if Arthur and Jon had to mix it up?
“I’d like to think I could take him,” Arthur said with a big smile. “We’ve had quite a few battles before. I might need to bring a bat now, though.”
