Cody, D. Williams will not play (updated)

No major surprises to pass along in terms of tonight’s scratches, although a few Ravens who had hoped to battle through injuries and play tonight will be relegated to the sidelines instead.

Rookie nose tackle Terrence Cody (knee), wide receiver Demetrius Williams (ankle), defensive back K.J. Gerard (hamstring) and wide receiver Eron Riley (back) all will not suit up tonight.

Williams and Gerard will be most affected by this; they are both battling for a roster spot in crowded position groups and were hopeful that they would be able to play.

Here is the full list of scratches for the Ravens:

WR Eron Riley, S Ed Reed, CB Lardarius Webb, DB Marcus Psachal, RB Matt Lawrence, DB K.J. Gerard, LB Brendon Ayanbadejo, G/C David Hale, NT Terrence Cody, T Oniel Cousins, C Daniel Sanders, T Jared Gaither and WR Demetrius Williams.

Tony Moll will start for Gaither at right tackle, while Tom Zbikowski will continue to fill in for Reed at free safety.

For the Giants, four starters will not play: C Shaun O’Hara, LG Rich Seubert, DT Chris Canty and CB Terrell Thomas.

UPDATE: Webb and Gerard are both in their uniforms and full pads and are taking part in pregame drills. Neither is expected to play, but the Ravens might just want each to get the feel for the turf at M&T and see how they respond to the drills health-wise.

Webb (knee) was activated off the Physically Unable to Perform list earlier this week, but the Ravens will not test him in game action just yet.
