After engaging members of the Ravens in a war of words via Twitter last night, Chad Ochocinco was surprisingly quiet during a conference call with members of the Baltimore media today.
In previous years, Ochocinco has been talkative as can be during the conference calls leading up to the Ravens-Bengals matchups. But today, the Bengals wide receiver was not interested in sharing his thoughts on his Twitter conversations, the upcoming reunion with his former teammate T.J. Houshmandzadeh, or how he’s been meshing with new Bengals wide receiver Terrell Owens.
Asked about the Twitter comments, Ochocinco repeatedly changed the subject.
“I want to talk about football,” the receiver said. “There’s a game Sunday.”
When his personal rivalry with the Ravens was broached, Ochocinco offered this response: “You know every player on the Ravens and I are friends. Why are ya’ll even feeding into that? You know that.”
So he pokes at the Ravens in fun?
“No. I don’t. I’m poking out of fear,” Ochocinco said.
There were a few moments where Chad briefly flashed his usual personality.
Asked if he remembers the git hit that Ray Lewis laid on him last year, Ochocinco delivered a bit of a warning to his good friend.
“Yeah, of course I remember,” Ochocinco said. “I’m looking forward to taking his off this year.”
His comment for Lewis aside, Chad had nothing but positive things to say about the Ravens’ defense
“It seemed like they had more than 11 people out there on the field on film,” Ochocinco said. “That damn Terrell Suggs is a beast. He’s all over the place. Secondary, they play very solid. Ray’s all over the place. Haloti Ngata, [shoot], he might be damn near the best D-tackle in the game right now, based on what I’m seeing. They’ve looked damn good on film.”
