Yesterday, cornerback Fabian Washington said that he expected Josh Wilson to replace him in the starting lineup this Thursday against the Falcons.
“I don’t know. I really don’t. I think they’re leaning toward Josh,” Washington said. “So, that’s what I’m thinking. I’m not sure.”
Today, Wilson declined to offer his prediction on who will be in the starting lineup when the Ravens take on Atlanta.
“All I want to do is make sure I go out there every week and do something to help this team win,” Wilson said. “If I do that, I did my job. I don’t want to do anything for Josh Wilson, I want to do everything for the Baltimore Ravens.”
Washington has been benched in back-to-back games in favor of Wilson. The most recent benching occurred at halftime of the Ravens’ win over the Dolphins, and Wilson responded to the opportunity by posting a tackle, three passes defensed and an game-clinching interception.
Despite the solid performance, Wilson doesn’t think he’s necessarily warranted a starting spot on Thursday.
“The only thing I’ve warranted is to make sure I can come back here every day and have a locker and I get to see ya’ll walking around the locker room,” Wilson said. “The one thing about this league is it’s a league where you go out and perform to the best of your ability every day, and you let the cards fall where they may.”
