It's not a shock that safety Ed Reed missed practice today, but it is somewhat surprising that defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, linebacker Terrell Suggs and center Matt Birk joined Reed on the sidelines this afternoon.
Reed said earlier today that he still expects to play this weekend against the Chiefs after suffering a rib injury in Sunday's win over the Bengals, but as expected, the Ravens gave him a day to heal up.
Ngata (thigh), Suggs (knee) and Birk (knee) all rested as well today, although none of those injuries are thought to be serious. The Ravens often rest their veteran starters late in the season if they need a day off.
Five Ravens had a limited practice today: linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (head), linebacker Tavares Gooden (shoulder), linebacker Jameel McClain (back), cornerback Josh Wilson (head), and safety Tom Zbikowski (back).
Wide receiver Derrick Mason (abs/ankle), offensive tackle Michael Oher (knee/ankle) and wide receiver David Reed (wrist) all had a full practice today.
For Kansas City, only two players are listed on the injury report today.
Pro Bowl wide receiver Dwayne Bowe and offensive guard Brian Waters both sat out today with illnesses.
So, for those keeping score at home, that's 12 Ravens listed on the injury report, and just two members of the Chiefs.
