After bouncing from team to team for much of his six-year career, Billy Cundiff will finally have some long-term job security.
And he’ll have a bit of cash as well.
Cundiff’s five-year contract extension with the Ravens, worth a reported $15 million, is now official, according to his agent.
It’s the 15th contract that Cundiff has signed in his journeyman career.
Cundiff joined the Ravens in the middle of the 2009 season. Despite being the underdog to Shayne Graham in training camp last summer, Cundiff won the Ravens’ kicking job, and posted a career season in 2010, making the Pro Bowl, and tying the NFL record for most touchbacks in a single season.
He provided stability for the Ravens at a position that lacked it for much of the ‘09 season, and now, for the first time in a long time, Cundiff will have some well-deserved stability himself.
